Machine Recount Ordered in Boynton Beach City Commission District 2 Runoff Election Palm Beach County
Canvassing Board to Conduct Machine Recount on March 31, 2023
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL – The Palm Beach County Canvassing Board has ordered a machine recount in the Boynton Beach City Commission District 2 Runoff Election.
The Palm Beach County Canvassing Board will conduct a logic and accuracy test, followed by a machine recount and the post-election audit. These activities will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, at the Supervisor of Elections Voting Equipment Center, located at 7835 Central Industrial Drive, Riviera Beach, FL 33404, and are open to the public.
WHO: Palm Beach County Canvassing Board.
WHAT: Logic & Accuracy Test, immediately followed by a Machine Recount, Certification of the Results, and then the Post-Election Audit for the Boynton Beach City Commission District 2 Runoff Election.
WHEN: 7:30 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023.
WHERE: PBCSOE Voting Equipment Center, located at 7835 Central Industrial Drive, Riviera Beach, FL 33404.
The election results determined that the two candidates in the Boynton Beach City Commission District 2 Runoff Election had a margin of 0.5% or less votes. Per s. 102.141(7), F.S., the county canvassing board is responsible for ordering recounts when the election results reflect that a candidate for office was defeated or eliminated by one-half of a percent or less of the votes cast for such office.
The difference in votes cast in the Boynton Beach City Commission District 2 Runoff Election was .48%. The results will be certified and then a voting system audit will be conducted following the recount.
