Palm Beach County Canvassing Board Reports First Unofficial Results to Tallahassee

West Palm Beach, Fla. - November 8, 2008 -The Palm Beach County Canvassing Board has completed its review of Provisional and Absentee Ballots, concluding an 11 day process that began on October 29th and ended on November 8th at noon. The Board reported the first unofficial results to The Department of State in Tallahassee today, meeting the required deadline. 

In all, the Canvassing Board reviewed close to 20,000 ballots which included both Absentee Ballots and Provisional Ballots. More than 17,800 Absentee Ballots were evaluated for issues related to voter intent and signature discrepancies. The Board then reviewed approximately 2,000 Provisional Ballots and accepted 1,019 of those evaluated. 

The Board will reconvene on November 14th at 4:00 p.m. which is the official deadline for receipt of overseas ballots. The meeting will be held at the Supervisor of Elections Office (SOE) where the Board will begin reviewing any discrepancies that may exist in those overseas ballots.
