In Florida, the people have the right to propose amendments to the Florida Constitution through an initiative petition process. Throughout the year, the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections verifies tens of thousands of initiative petitions signed by Palm Beach County voters. Sponsors of these initiatives must secure the required number of valid signatures in order for their initiative to be placed on a General Election ballot.

Pursuant to Florida Statute 100.371(11)(b), Palm Beach County’s cost of signature verification of an initiative petition is $0.96 per petition for the first 10,000 petitions.

For all petitions after the first 10,000, the actual cost is based on validity rate:

50-100% validity rate = $0.96 per petition

40-49% validity rate = $1.44 per petition

Validity rate below 40% = $1.92 per petition

The validity rate is based on overall submissions to date beginning February 2, 2024. The cost will be determined by the published validity rate on the date of receipt of the petition.  Click here to see the current validity rates and costs.
